About

Jaclyn reading a book.

I grew up in the heart of California. My childhood consisted of running along dusty grapevines, playing sports in the heat of the day, and cooling off as an avid library patron.

I received a BA in English literature from Fresno Pacific University. During these years, my interest in all things international blossomed. I studied abroad in Perugia, Italy, and alongside literature, I have studied journalism, TESOL, and a handful of foreign languages.

My husband and I moved to Germany in 2014. I graduated with an MA in English literature and linguistics from Universität Heidelberg. My master’s thesis evaluated the stylistics and use of metaphor in the works of Chicano poet Juan Felipe Herrera.

I spend my time caring for our three children and serving alongside my husband as members of a local church in Munich. During the day, I write novels, short stories, and essays. My writing explores cross-cultural experiences, journeys and home, literature and faith, and Mexican/American narratives.

My work has been featured with the Rabbit Room, Verily Magazine, and the Wallflower Journal.
